Healthy-Pet Examinations

A regular annual or bi-annual exam is recommended for all healthy pets. During this exam, the Veterinarian (DVM) will physically examine your dog or cat, ask questions about their health and habits, and give you an opportunity to discuss concerns you may have. During this visit, the DVM will recommend necessary vaccines and preventative treatments for common conditions such as heartworm based on your animal’s age and condition. Vaccinations usually can be performed during this same visit, and preventative medications can be prescribed and obtained. Separate exams for sick or injured pets can be scheduled as needed.

  • Regular Exams help to stay ahead of issues, saving money long-term
  • Vaccinations are part of the healthy pet exam

FAQs

Generally, a yearly exam is the minimum recommended, but exact guidance will be given on the frequency of exams after your first visit based on the individual animal.
Unfortunately not. State and local laws require animals be under the care of a veterinarian, this care requirement is fulfilled via an exam.
Pet medical records for any previous services or treatments that were not performed at our clinic are useful to confirm what will be needed during the visit. This may reduce the necessary vaccinations. Additionally, you may be asked to bring a stool sample for testing. Reminder emails and text messages prior to your visit will explain what to bring.
Exam charges are based on species, breed, size, and age as well as the physical condition of the animal and what services are warranted. You may call our office for the expected exam charge based on specific patient information you provide. A quote for any recommended treatments can be made when we see the patient, but before those treatments are performed.
